My role within the Care about physical activity team is to provide internal improvement support within the Care Inspectorate. I work closely with our inspection teams delivering learning programmes based on our Care about Physical Activity resource and improvement science.
I also provide support to our improvement advisers in facilitating our learning events throughout the participating partnership areas. A large part of my role is to assist inspectors in recognising and sharing good practice of improvement within care services.
Our internal programme for adult and older adult inspection teams provided an insight into the CAPA project and how to recognise good practice. It also identified ways for assisting care staff to develop other improvement opportunities so that they too can help embed the principles of CAPA.
Inspector’s feedback since attending the training has included:
“I’ve had conversations about the CAPA project with services who aren’t directly involved with the CAPA programme. Their staff members are really enthusiastic about the support they’re receiving in bringing in more movement to service user’s days.”
Our early years, children and young people inspection teams have just attended their internal CAPA training. This training provided an insight into our exciting CAPA project so far. Topics covered in the training included how to use CAPA resource pack and the importance physical activity for both staff and our young service users. We also explored how we can continue to work collaboratively to further support our early years, children and young people care services.
Inspector’s feedback since attending the training has included:
“Motivating training. Good mix of knowledge and appreciation to provide. Would have appreciated more focus on challenges for care homes for children and young people”
