Eddie Fraser, Director of East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership talks about the significant difference the programme is making to people experiencing care.
“East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership were delighted to be selected for the Care About Physical Activity (CAPA) improvement programme. The programme builds upon the excellent skills, knowledge and confidence of the care professionals who work in care homes.
“Enabling everyone to learn and experience the benefits of coming together from care professionals, families and to local partners, including care inspectors.
“More importantly it builds sustainable strategies to enable people to embrace movement in everything they do and be risk averse when considering residents capabilities. The method of learning is inclusive and fun contributing to Responsibility 3 in the SSSC Codes of Practice for employers.
“Fifteen care homes are enthusiastically taking part in the eighteen month programme and without doubt CAPA is already making a significant difference to the health and wellbeing of the residents in care homes by helping them to be healthier and happier.”
This is a fantastic piece of work and I look forward to seeing how it unfolds. Keeping people active and doing any exercise has such a positive effect On their confidence mood and not to mention all the physical benefits reduce falls pressure ulcers increased appetite….. I could go on and on but excited to see the results!
These small projects have made such a difference, how can we ensure the changes are sustainable and not just driven by enthusiastic individuals who will move on at the end of funding?
