Movement sticks are an effective way of encouraging regular movement especially in small spaces.
Use 5-10 lolly sticks or similar, in a jar, with a different movement or exercise on each stick, e.g. sit to stand marching (seated or standing), making a fist and release or walk to your window. The movements or exercises can be repeated between 5-10 times depending on ability and can be performed by carers too (or family if connecting on a video call to keep in touch) – moving together is more fun!
The set of Movement Sticks belong to the person, please don’t share with others because of infection control.
See how Movement Sticks have been used in the two videos below and make your own with our labels.
